Central adds 4 new head coaches

It was a busy summer and beyond for Central Activities Director Joe Beran.

On Friday, he announced the addition of four new head coaches to the athletic staff.

Among them, Brian Lewis, who takes over the highly successful baseball program.

Matt Massie has been hired to lead the La Crosse boys hockey co-op.

Here are the details courtesy of Beran and Central high school:

La Crosse Central is pleased to announce the hiring of the following Head Coaches for the 2014-15 School Year:

Wrestling - Mr. Josh Hein: Josh has been an assistant with Aquinas High School Wrestling program and was recently hired as a Teacher Assistant at Central High School. He is also the Assistant Boys Cross Country Coach, Climbing Wall Advisor, and Hmong Club Advisor at Central. Hein replaces Kevin Colburn.

Hockey (Co-op) - Mr. Matt Massie: Matt has been an assistant coach with several area teams the past eight years. He worked as a Goalie Coach previously with the La Crosse team. Massie replaces Greg Sears.

Boys Track - Mr. Chad Wilkinson: Chad has been both a Head and Assistant Coach with the Central Track team in the past. He has decided to return to the Head position this year. He has also coached Cross Country at Central and is a member of the Central Science Department. Wilkinson replaces Rebecca Kitzman.

Baseball - Mr. Brian Lewis: Brian has been an assistant with the La Crosse Loggers (and will continue to do so) and has work with several college programs. He brings a great deal of baseball coaching experience with him. Lewis replaces Nick Kalina.
