Co-chair of the Steering Committee, David Mortenson, made the announcement shortly after 5:30 p.m. Friday. The committee has been working to bring the Final Four to Minnesota for the past year. The tournament is expected to bring along with it a big boom to the economy in both Minneapolis and St. Paul.
Minnesota hosted the tournament in 1992 and 2001 at the Metrodome.
This news comes just months after a similar announcement stating the new Vikings stadium will also be the site of the 2018 Super Bowl.
