Milwaukee police have arrested a man after they say DNA evidence showed he sexually assaulted a 13-year-old girl seven years ago.
WITI-TV reports the 24-year-old man was charged with second-degree sexual assault of a child in the 2007 incident after he pleaded guilty to intimidating a witness in a drug case in 2013.
Milwaukee Police Lt. Justin Carloni says the man's DNA collected in the 2013 case matched evidence from the sexual assault. Court records show the man was 17 at the time.
Authorities say the girl told her family she had sex with the teen and she was taken to a hospital for an examination. Police say the teen had given the girl a fake name.
The man faces up to 40 years in prison if convicted.
