"The Interview" to play at Rochester theater, and several other Minnesota theaters
ROCHESTER, Minn. (KTTC) -- The controversial Sony Pictures film "The Interview" will be playing on Christmas day in Rochester, as well as several other Minnesota theaters.
The Wehrenberg Theatre website shows a 6:00 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. showing of "The Interview" at its Rochester location on Christmas day. The movie will also be playing at other Wehrenberg Theatre locations around the country.
There are at least three other Minnesota theaters showing the movie. The online news source Vita MN reports that St. Anthony Main in Minneapolis and the Cambridge Cinema 5 and North Branch Cinema Theater north of the Twin Cities will be showing "The Interview" as well.
Independent theaters in Austin, Texas and Atlanta, Georgia were among the first to announce on Tuesday that they would be screening the comedy.
"The Interview" is a film about a plot to assassinate North Korea's leader, Kim Jong-Un. Sony had originally decided to pull the release of the film after major hacks that unveiled confidential company documents.
The U.S. Government has blamed the hacking on North Korea, though the country strongly denies it had anything to do with the hacks.
