TAMPA, FL (QNI) - -
Players from the Wisconsin Badgers and Auburn Tigers set aside their rivalry Saturday afternoon in order to brighten up the lives of some young football fans.
Several members from both teams visited with children at Tampa General Hospital's Pediatric Unit. There they handed out banners, hats, and autographs and posed for pictures with the kids and their families. The result was plenty of smiles for the children and the players.
Throughout the visit, parents and staff at the hospital commented on how much they appreciated the players' visit.
Safety Leo Musso spoke about what it means to the kids they visited with, but also what the visit means to the players.
“When we do get an opportunity like this, it kind of allows us to step out of our boundaries and kind of take a look into our lives and see how special it is. Like I said earlier, if we can make an impact on people and make their day better, that's what we're trying to do."
Later Saturday night, give the edge to Wisconsin over Auburn as the two teams go watch an NHL game featuring the Tampa Bay Lightning in downtown Tampa.
