A West Salem High School student facing a serious health challenge will get the change to live his dream in a big way.
Jimmy Bjorkman is a freshman at West Salem high school and was born with hypo-plastic left heart syndrome. Essentially, Bjorkman was born with only half a heart.
The Make-A-Wish Foundation stepped up to help grant Bjorkman his wish, to become a Boston Bruin for a day.
Next weekend Bjorkman and his family will travel to Boston to spend time in the city and see the Bruins take on the Canadians. Bjorkman said he has been counting down the days and is excited for the trip.
"I think I'm going to skate out with them during practice and maybe with them during warm ups," he said.
Bjorkman's mom, Barb Gilster, said he has been a Bruins fan since third grade when he started watching hockey.
The city fascinates him and they were the first professional team he ever watched, so he's always been a fan," she said.
