The Green Bay Packers cut special teams coordinator Shawn Slocum.
Head Coach Mike McCarthy made the announcement shortly after 4:00 p.m. Friday afternoon.
On the team's website, McCarthy is quoted, "I would like to thank Shawn for all of his contributions over the past nine years. He was a positive contributor to our success, including helping us win Super Bowl XLV. We wish Shawn, Michelle, and their family the best moving forward."
The move isn't surprising given the performance of special teams in 2014. One ranking had the Packers in last place compared to all other NFL teams.
Lack of execution on key special teams plays in the NFC Championship game against Seattle, where the team lost an onside kick to the Seahawks, was seen as one of the reasons the Packers ultimately lost the game and a trip to the Super Bowl.
