La Crosse, WI (WXOW) -
We're two and a half decades removed from dollar-a-gallon gas, "Home Alone" topping the box office, and the first George Bush in the White House, but one thing remains a constant. Keith and Sam have provided the soundtrack to Coulee Region mornings for 25 years.
"I don't know that I would have expected us to last this long," said Samantha Strong.
Keith Carr added, "Some days it feels like 25 minutes, other times 125 years."
The pair began on Z93 in 1990 before moving to Classic Hits 94.7 FM in 2007. They say they went from one station to the other while "Drift Away" by Dobie Gray played on both simultaneously.
Their legacy left not only a lasting impression on listeners' eardrums, but they've also actually influenced the lives of their audience.
"I remember saying to my mom, 'I want to be the next Sam Strong,'" said current Z93 Morning Buzz Host Brittany Styles. "To do the morning show on Z93 and have them as co-workers and friends--it's amazing. They're both so talented and such good people."
You can be a part of Keith and Sam's 25th Anniversary Celebration this Thursday, March 5th. From 4-7 pm at the Freighthouse Restaurant's Hiawatha Room. At 5:00 La Crosse Mayor Tim Kabat will declare it officially Keith and Sam Day.
