Paul Chryst is preparing for his first spring practice as the Badgers head coach. And later this month, Chryst will make a special appearance in the La Crosse area.
Chryst, along with some of his assistants, will be spreading their gridiron gospel at the Stoney Creek Inn on Tuesday, March 24th.
It's part of a Mendota Gridiron Club event.
Tickets are $45 and can be purchased at La Crosse area Festival Foods.
The doors open at 5:30 with heavy appetizers and a cash bar.
It's been a while since a Badgers football coach has made their way to the area.
"It's been some time since we've had a coach here. In fact, the last time was Barry Alvarez several years ago. So this is kind of a special thing especially with a brand new coach. It's a new recruit season and he's just going to be starting his first spring practice. A lot of people are familiar with him because he's from Madison, originally. I haven't heard from a person who isn't happy that he's the one that got the job," said Don Murphy, a Mendota Gridiron Club member and former Wisconsin Badger captain.
