UPDATE: Bryce Anderson, charged with the death of his girlfriend last week, makes his first appearance in a La Crosse County courtroom.

During the brief hearing, Anderson stood mute to the charge of first degree intentional homicide. A not guilty plea was entered then by La Crosse County Judge Todd Bjerke.  Also, Judge Bjerke found enough evidence to bind Anderson over for trial.

Bond for Anderson was set at $500,000 cash. He remains in the La Crosse County Jail.

The Holmen man charged with first degree intentional homicide in the death of his girlfriend is back in La Crosse County.

Bryce Anderson waived his extradition in Jones County, Iowa during a Monday afternoon court appearance.

By Monday night, he was transported back to La Crosse and booked in to the La Crosse County Jail.

Anderson is accused of killing his girlfriend, 28 year old Kristen Johnson, in their home last week.

Her body was discovered last Monday, along with a note from Anderson describing how he killed her. According to the police report, Johnson was strangled, beaten with a hammer, and had her throat cut.

Anderson was arrested last week in Jones County, Iowa after crashing his car and surrendering to law enforcement.

La Crosse County District Attorney Tim Gruenke said Anderson will appear in La Crosse County Circuit Court on Tuesday.
