Kim Blum is hoping her intimate knowledge of the UW-La Crosse athletics department will be enough to keep her on as the school's director of athletics.
Blum currently holds the job on an interim basis.
She had a formal interview with the school on Monday.
Blum has served in a couple of capacities in the athletics department for the last 11 years.
She took over for Josh Whitman, who left to take a similar position at Washington University in St. Louis, last summer.
Now she wants to sell her vision for the future of the program.
"The leader that I am, I really just try to be supportive, dependable resource. I try to let them know I believe in them. I try to be positive about what they're doing. But when it comes down to it, there are circumstances where you have to make hard decisions. People are going to throw rocks at you sometimes and that's just part of it. I'm up for it. I'm very capable of handling those kids of things," Blum said after an open forum Monday. Blum joins Rick Goeb and Charlie Gross as finalists for the job.
The school hopes to have a decision by sometime next week.
