Meet the other La Crosse native playing a big role in the Badgers Final Four Success: Alex Hayden
Alex Hayden, right, is one of 15 student managers this season for Wisconsin basketball.
INDIANAPOLIS (WXOW) - -
Many people know about Bronson Koenig's contributions to the Wisconsin Badgers' Final Four run this season, but there's another La Crosse native playing a role too.
Alex Hayden is a La Crosse Central graduate who has spent his freshman year as a student manager for the team. Just last year he was First Team All-MVC in basketball. Now he's one of 15 managers who does everything from videotaping to helping out in the locker room to doing individual drills with the players.
It's been a very rewarding experience.
"It's been a great experience, unbelievable group of guys. I wouldn't trade it for anything else," Hayden said as he watched practice Friday at Lucas Oil Stadium. "Just being here, being around these guys, it's unreal. To be a part of this Final Four as a big group, it's a special experience and I'm fortunate to be around this team at the best time in Wisconsin basketball history."
The Badgers are only allowed to bring three managers with them, so Hayden is attending the games as a fan. Wisconsin and Kentucky will meet in the national semifinals on Saturday night. Tip-off is approximately 7:49 p.m. at Lucas Oil Stadium.
