Badger junior Sam Dekker announced on Twitter that he is leaving UW-Madison and is entering the NBA draft.
“These past three years have been the best, most memorable years of my life,” Dekker said in a letter posted to Twitter Friday morning.
The Badgers suffered a heartbreaking loss in the NCAA Championship on Monday, losing to Duke 68-63. It was the first time Wisconsin appeared in the championship since 1941.
Dekker said he wanted to think about his next move after the game. In his announcement, he said, “after lots of thoughts and prayers, I've decided that it is in my best interest to enter the NBA draft at this time.”
The junior is a Sheboygan native and says it will be hard to leave Madison and the only state he's ever called home.
Dekker said he will continue to represent the state, where ever he heads next.
He ended the letter with "God bless and On Wisconsin!"
