La Crosse, WI (WXOW) The Coulee Region Chill are one win away from putting their first round series with the Minnesota Wilderness on ice. They took games one and two on the road last weekend.
Now they're back home Friday night with a chance for a sweep in the best of five series. It's been a major turnaround for the Chill. They were just 1 and 7 against the Wilderness during the regular season. But they've found the winning formula when it's counted the most.
"We're playing together. We're playing as one unit. We're working hard and we're winning our 50-50 battles. We came together as a team last weekend and we're going to do something special here. So it's pretty sweet," said goalie Adam Carlson.
"Most of the games we played against them we were locked into third place. We really couldn't move up or down and I think we lost of little bit of our focus there. I think we got it back in the first two games. We played harder than we have since the beginning of January. We didn't make many mistakes and guys competed," said head coach A.J. Degenhardt. The Wilderness have won all four games against the Chill in La Crosse. Game three tomorrow night at Green Island at 7 o'clock. Game four, if necessary, will be Saturday night.
