COPY-DA: Teen argued with parents about boyfriend before murders

ONEIDA COUNTY (WAOW) – An 17-year-old Oneida County teen got into an argument with her stepfather about her 22-year-old boyfriend just moments before she killed him and her mother in March, according to an amended criminal complaint filed Friday.

Ashlee Martinson has been charged in the death of Jennifer and Thomas Ayers. Oneida County Sheriff's Department officials say the couple died at their home in the Town of Piehl, just outside of Rhinelander in March.

Officials say Jennifer was stabbed and Thomas was shot in the head and chest.

Martinson's three younger sisters were found in the home unharmed. The three girls are now in the care of Oneida County Social Services.

Court documents show Thomas Ayers found out about Martinson's boyfriend Ryan Sisco and went to her room to confront her. The eldest of Martinson's younger sisters told investigators she then heard two gunshots, according to the criminal complaint.

The girl then told officials Jennifer Ayers went upstairs to see what happened and she heard her mother yelling, court records show. The complaint goes onto say the girl heard Jennifer stop screaming, but did not see what happened to her.

Martinson then came downstairs and put cartoons on, according to the complaint. The girl told investigators Martinson was bloody and told the girls she had fallen down the stairs. Martinson took two showers before locking the three girls in a room and leaving the home, the complaint said.

Ashlee Martinson was arrested in Boone County, Indiana a day after the killings. She was returned to Oneida County Thursday.

Sisco told investigators he received a message from the Ayers on Facebook, saying “as her parents, we can press charges,” and to “stay away from my daughter, she's a minor.”

Authorities say Sisco did not play a role in the Ayers' death.

Bond was set at $750,000 for Martinson. She was ordered to not have any contact with her younger sisters or Sisco.

A preliminary hearing has been set for June 5.

Martinson appeared by video in court Friday afternoon.
