A little over a month left until summer vacation begins for most area students and the La Crosse swimming pools are gearing up for the season.
La Crosse pools open on June 6.
The City of La Crosse Parks, Recreation and Forestry crews are working hard to make sure pools are ready.
"We have to paint the pools, pressure wash them, get the all the leaves out and the stuff from last summer, I mean the winter time. We've got to back wash the filters, caulk everything, just a lot of little things to get everything set up and ready to go," Dan Trussoni, park coordinator for the city of La Crosse said.
Trussoni said they are on track so far.
"We're going to be filling the pools here in a couple weeks. Usually takes about a week after that to balance the chemicals out. Then we've got our guard training going on and then they should be ready to go after that."
Families can purchase pool passes at the Black River Beach Neighborhood Center or the city Parks, Recreation and Forestry Department.
For La Crosse residents a family pass is $100 and a single pass is $50. For non residents a family pass is $200 and a single pass is $100.
