La Crosse, WI (WXOW) - UW-L scored four runs in the top of the 8th inning to pull away against Concordia University-Chicago Saturday afternoon at Copeland Park and advance to the NCAA Division III Midwest Regional championship game. The Eagles will face Coe College on Sunday at 12 p.m., and must force a second title game later in the afternoon to avoid elimination and win the Regional.

Six Eagles players finished with two or more hits, led by Bryce Barsness' two hits and 3 RBI. The first five hitters in the lineup finished with 13 hits and 9 RBI.

UW-L took an early 1-0 lead in the opening inning after Ben Morgan drove in Taylor Kohlwey. The Cougars responded with an unearned run against Ben Cejka in the bottom half of the frame.

The Eagles added single runs in the 2nd inning and 3rd inning to take a 3-1 lead, then scored three more runs after a Kohlwey RBI double, a Justin Anderson RBI single and a Barsness RBI single.

Concordia answered with two runs in the 6th inning to make it 6-3 entering the late stages of the contest.

UW-L all but put the game away after a four-run 8th inning though. Kohlwey drove in Travis Buxton-Verstegen, Anderson drove in Eric Vatch, then Barsness drove in a pair with a two-out single to make it 10-3.

Cejka worked 7 2-3 innings, striking out seven. Logan Mallek recorded the final four outs to secure the win.

The Eagles lost to Coe Friday night to setup Saturday's elimination game. The teams will meet again Sunday with a Regional title on the line.
