COPY-Sheriff says 1 person arrested in Bancroft standoff; 1 shot
BANCROFT, Wis. (AP) - Portage County authorities say a standoff at a home in Bancroft has ended with one person shot and one person arrested.
Portage County Sheriff Mike Lukas says the person who was shot was taken to a hospital. He says condition of the person who was shot was not immediately known. He provided few other details.
The incident was reported around 11 a.m. Wednesday. Authorities evacuated a nearby elementary school as a precaution, and closed the main street in the central Wisconsin community of about 500 people. The standoff ended just before 4 p.m.
Officers from several agencies converged on the scene.
