LA CROSSE, Wis. (WXOW) Day one of the WIAA State Track Meet saw several area athletes put up impressive performances at the Veterans Memorial Sports Complex. The day began at 9:30 AM with divisions two and three competing. The division one athletes took center stage at 4:30. Here are some noteworthy performances from La Crosse area athletes on day one: -Bangor's Kellen Kravik became the first local athlete to win a state title. Kravik won the division three pole vault. -Holmen's Danielle Kohlwey set personal bests in both the 100 hurdles and 300 hurdles and will be a favorite to win both on Saturday in division one. -Kohlwey's teammate, Mason Kalander, took 5th in the division one 1600m -Logan's Aric Elmore took 2nd in the division one long jump, missing out on first place by a quarter of an inch. Teammate Jarrod Besl took 7th. -Holmen's Dylan Cooper took 5th in the high jump in division one. -The Logan girls 4 by 200 relay, which is trying to win a 4th straight state title, qualified for tomorrows finals. -Arcadia's Jim Hoesley qualified for the finals in three events in division two. -The West Salem boys advances two relays to the finals (4 by 100, 4 by 200). -West Salem's Mac Anderson and Viroqua's Jeremy Lee took 5th and 6th respectively in the pole vault in division two.
