COPY-Toddler found at Baraboo construction site back with family
BARABOO (WKOW) -- The Sauk County Sheriff's Office says no criminal charges are pending right now in the case of a two-year-old found alone at a Baraboo construction site Thursday morning.
Investigators are still conducting interviews and looking at evidence to try and determine how and why the child ended up at the site, but they say there is no suspicion right now that it was a stranger abduction.
The child was taken to a hospital for examination and released back to his parents later Thursday.
The Sauk County Sheriff's Office, Baraboo Police, and Columbia County Department of Human Services have all been involved in the investigation.
The construction site at the intersection of Hatchery Road and Commerce Avenue in the City of Baraboo.
Police say workers arriving at the site Thursday morning could hear what sounded like crying and found the child, alert and responsive, inside a four-foot by four-foot concrete hole covered with a barrier tarp.
The child lives with his parents, his 13-year-old sister, and his four-year-old sister at a home a short distance from the construction site.
