COPY-Police seek suspect in shooting of Milwaukee-area officer
MILWAUKEE (AP) - Authorities are searching for a 20-year-old man suspected in the shooting and wounding of a suburban Milwaukee police officer.
Milwaukee Police Chief Ed Flynn said Friday night that the suspect is also wanted in an armed robbery earlier in the week. He warned that the suspect is armed and dangerous.
Three Wauwatosa police officers were investigating a burglary Friday morning and confronted a man in a car in a Milwaukee apartment parking lot.
The suspect opened fire and at least one officer shot back. A 52-year-old plain-clothed detective, who has 25 years of service, was hit once. The suspect ran away, and Flynn said there's no indication that the suspect was hurt.
Wauwatosa Police Chief Barry Weber said the detective was in serious but stable condition after undergoing surgery.
