Ross Wilhelm birdied the 17th hole Saturday and then converted a par putt on 18 to win the Lawn Care Specialists Open at Drugan's Castle Mound.
Wilhelm finished with a round of 72 to top Max Hosking by a stroke in the Championship Flight standings. Chris Mithelman shot a 5-under 69 Saturday to finish third overall. Tom McClintock and Jake Dunn both shot even par for the tournament to tie for fifth.
"I knew that there was many good players behind me," Wilhelm said. "I just had to play like I wasn't leading, I needed to play like I was almost two down, stay aggressive and I did. I didn't do quite as well as I did yesterday but it was enough."
Wilhelm shot a 4-under 68 to hold a one-stroke advantage over Dunn, McClintock and Hosking after Friday's opening round. He was at 5-under at one point in Saturday's round, but was tied at 3-under with Hosking for most of the back nine before converting a birdie chance on 17. Hosking missed a birdie putt on the same hole.
Jon Strangstalien and Calvin King tied for first in the 1st Flight with a 15-over 159. Randy Blank won the 2nd Flight with a score of 170. Steve Crogan captured the crown in the 3rd Flight with a 177.
