Jefferson scored eight runs in the first two innings and ultimately pounded out 16 hits Saturday to beat Viroqua 13-1 in six innings and advance to the championship game of the Class A American Legion State tournament.
Wisconsin Dells won the other semi-final matchup Saturday afternoon at Damian Miller Field in West Salem. Jefferson must beat Wisconsin Dells twice on Sunday to win the state title.
Viroqua (29-15) was held to six hits - three of them coming from the bat of Anders Frost.
Jefferson scored the game's first nine runs, including four in each of the first two frames. Viroqua starter Zach Trautsch only recorded two outs in the first inning and surrendering four earned runs. Ryan Felton pitched a complete game to earn the victory for Jefferson.
