Irishfest La Crosse continued Saturday with music, games, and even sheep herding.
There was organized competition as well through the annual Highland Games, a collection of strength events including caber turning, stone throwing, sheaf tossing, and weight tossing celebrating Scottish and Celtic culture.
Men and women from around the Midwest scored points Saturday afternoon in seven events, starting with the stone throw.
La Crosse native Luke Crowley said he first heard about the competition while competing in track and field at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse.
"Did pretty poorly and almost hurt myself, but I was hooked," Crowley said of his first experience. "It's just a good way to come out and have fun and celebrate our heritage."
Irishfest runs through Sunday in La Crosse.
