MADISON, Wis. (WKOW) After months of evaluation, the new Badgers coaching staff has come to a conclusion, Tanner McEvoy is a wide receiver.
The senior has been bouncing between receiver and safety this fall.
The Badgers need is clearly much greater at receiver.
So, they're having the 6'6" McEvoy work exclusively on offense.
McEvoy could even end up as a the starter opposite Alex Erickson, despite the fact he's has never caught a pass in college.
"I think I'm getting better at it each day. I've still got a lot to improve on but as of right now I've been doing a lot more at receiver than safety but I'm just taking it day by day. I still know I've got to take a lot more strides and take a big step in this position group. I've just got to work on my routes, work on my releases there's a number of things but those are basically the prime ones," McEvoy said.
The Badgers open the season September 5 against Alabama in Arlington, Texas.
