Isaac Fruechte will remain with the Minnesota Vikings, signing a contract to stay on the team's practice squad.
Fruechte told WXOW Sports he signed around 11 a.m. on Sunday, marking the end of a whirlwind journey that started in May at rookie minicamp.
"It feels good obviously," Fruechte said. "I'm ready to go to work, and try and achieve some more goals of making the 53 and being a part of the team for real."
The Caledonia native had six catches for 49 yards this preseason, including three in the preseason finale Thursday against the Tennessee Titans. Now he'll gear up for practices and try to take the next step by playing on Sundays.
Fruechte said he celebrated the big news by spending time with his family and close friends.
The Vikings open the regular season on Monday, September 14 against San Francisco.
