The Wisconsin Badgers are 2-1 on the season after defeating Troy 28-3 on Saturday at Camp Randall Stadium.
But the win was overshadowed by two Wisconsin players being ejected for targeting penalties.
Inside linebacker Leon Jacobs was tossed late in the first quarter for a hit on Troy quarterback Brandon Silvers. Then in the third quarter, cornerback Derrick Tindal was also ejected for a hit on Troy wide receiver Ismail Saleem near the sideline.
Chris Orr became the next man up for the Badgers as a result. The freshman led the team with 14 tackles on the day, 11 of them of the solo variety.
"It came down to more so us as a unit, all 11 of us doing our job and trusting each other, allowing me and my other teammates to make those plays," Orr said afterward.
His teammates took notice of his impact, especially senior safety Michael Caputo.
"I'm really proud of him and happy for how he responded," Caputo said. "I'm really happy for how the team, and mostly the defense responded, to have two guys getting ejected in that game."
Tindal will have to miss the first half of Saturday's game against Hawaii because his ejected came during the second half. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. at Camp Randall.
