UW-L QB Cummings calls it quits for health reasons

La Crosse, WI (WXOW) -

UW-La Crosse starting quarterback Trent Cummings is leaving the team for health reasons, the school announced Tuesday.

Cummings started three of the Eagles four games this season.

He missed the week three game at Mary-Hardin Baylor because of a head injury, but played in last Saturday's loss at River Falls.

The brief statement released by the school said a series of injuries over the past 12 months led to his decision.

Cummings missed five games last season due to a variety of injuries.

This season, the senior quarterback from Waunakee had six touchdown passes and had completed 62% of his passes.

John Tackett and Andrew Thompson have split time in Cummings absence in the past and figure to do so moving forward.

The Eagles (1-3) host UW-Stout (1-3) this Saturday at Harring Stadium.
