All signs indicate Drew David will get his first career start at quarterback Saturday for UW-La Crosse.
The Eagles list David as the number one quarterback on their depth chart. He also took most of the first team reps in practice on Tuesday.
This, in the wake of the decision by Trent Cummings to call it a career because of health reasons.
David is a freshman transfer from Illinois State. He has yet to throw a pass in game action as an Eagle.
John Tackett may also see action, but it's David who will take the reigns at first.
"We feel like Drew gives us the best chance to be successful right now. Not that John doesn't. What's good about the situation is that we have two guys. One of them we know, for sure, can play in a game. The other one we feel can play as well too. It's not great but it's not as if we're building from the ground up. At that position we've worked hard to recruit and to make sure we've got guys that can play there," said head coach Joel Dettwiler.
The Eagles will host UW-Stout Saturday at Harring Stadium with a 1 p.m kickoff time.
