Manny Buckhanan scored a pair of first quarter touchdowns, and Trey Davis threw for another in the second half as the Logan Rangers beat La Crosse Central 38-12 on Friday night to keep the Ark of Victory trophy for a fourth straight year.
Logan (6-2, 5-1 MVC) can clinch a share of the MVC with a win over Onalaska next week at Swanson Field. Holmen (6-2, 5-1) is tied atop the standings and will host Sparta.
"Obviously we had a letdown last week, but we forgot that," Davis said. This is a great confidence building game, we're going into the MVC championship game ready, we're going into the playoffs ready."
The Rangers took the opening kickoff and marched down the field. Buckhanan scored on a pitch to the right side for the game's first points. He finished the night with 112 yards rushing and two touchdowns.
"It feels amazing, I can't even explain it right now," Buckhanan said afterward as his teammates proudly displayed the trophy. "(My offensive line) did a great job blocking for me."
Andy Metcalf also rushed for two scores, including one in the second quarter to push the lead to 21-0.
Central finally got on the board later in the second quarter when Tristian Morgan ran for a 20-yard score on fourth down. The extra point was missed, cutting the Rangers lead to 21-6.
Logan added a late field goal at the end of the half to lead 24-6 at the break, then Davis led the Rangers down the field early in the third quarter for another score, finding Jack Hinton for a touchdown to make it 31-6.
Central's Matt Johnson connect with Bailey Kale for a score in the fourth quarter to bring the Raiders to within 31-12 - the 2-point conversion attempt failed.
Despite losing to Logan for the ninth time in the last 10 years, Central still leads the all-time series 44-39-7.
