LA CROSSE, Wis. (WXOW) The Eagles merry-go-round at quarterback seems to be coming to a stop with John Tackett as the starter.
He will make his second straight start Saturday when the Eagles host UW-Eau Claire.
Tackett earned the starting job after playing well in relief against Stout two weeks ago when starter Drew David went down after the first series.
He turned in a solid performance at Whitewater last week too.
The sophomore has thrown for 479 yards and 4 touchdowns in the last two games.
He did have three interceptions at Whitewater but kept the Eagles in the game for the most part.
"Just going into the game Saturday knowing I should be the guy, I think it helps a lot. Like when Trent was in, same thing. Everybody knew he was the guy going in. They were expecting him to play at a high level. Now that falls on me with a couple of guys being hurt," Tackett said.
"John has experience this year and last year and we feel very comfortable with him. I think the rest of the players on offense do too," said head coach Joel Dettwiler.
Dettwiler also said Andrew Thompson is back from injury and could also see time at quarterback Saturday.
Thompson is more of a running quarterback.
