MADISON, Wis. (WKOW) There are just a few weeks until the opening for what should be a very interesting Badgers basketball season.
Fans will get their first look at the young Badgers Sunday at one o'clock with the red-white scrimmage.
We know Bronson Koenig and Nigel Hayes are good.
Beyond that, it's a lot of question marks.
Those around the program believe Ethan Happ will be one of the breakout players.
The redshirt freshman turned heads in practice last year.
Now, the skilled 6'9" forward will be counted on to take some pressure off of the Badgers dynamic duo.
"Playing against Frank (Kaminsky), playing against Sam (Dekker), Nigel and having them guard me. On both sides of the ball, it was amazing to be pushed every day. Played against some pretty good players last year, and it's definitely helped me a lot," Happ said.
"Ethan's ability to play down low and we have another low-post presence in that he always finds a way to score or get his shot off or it will be an and-one and he's going to the line for two. He's been working on his outside shot. I think he should be and, if we want to be anywhere decent as good as we can be, I think he'll need to play big for us," said Hayes.
