UPDATE: Suspects in Winona shooting returning to face charges

Reginald Burnett Reginald Burnett

The suspects in the shooting of a Winona man earlier this month waive extradition during their court appearances and will return to Minnesota to face charges.

At a hearing in Marathon County Circuit Court in Wausau Wednesday afternoon, Lonnie Hudson agreed to not contest his extradition from Wisconsin to Minnesota.

Hudson was arrested last Friday in Wausau. Earlier last week, based on evidence recovered by investigators, an arrest warrant was issued for Hudson on charges including Murder in the Second Degree and Aggravated Robbery in the First Degree.

Another suspect, Reginald Burnett, was arrested in the Joliet, Illinois suburb of Rockdale on Saturday. At a court appearance in Will County on Tuesday, Burnett waived his extradition and began the process of returning to Winona. He is also facing similar charges to Hudson.

The men are suspects in the fatal shooting of 31-year-old Adam Fort on October 18. Police said that the men went to Fort's apartment on Gilmore Avenue early Sunday afternoon, demanded money, and shot Fort. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

One other person, Kayla Mae Clay, was arrested last week in Ettrick on charges of Aiding an Offender-After the Fact. She also waived extradition in Trempealeau County Circuit Court on Monday. She was brought back to Winona where she was charged.

One of the men arrested in the murder of a Winona man will face charges in Minnesota.

According to the Will County Sheriff's Office, Reginald Burnett, 18, waived his extradition in court on Tuesday and will be transported to Winona.

Burnett was arrested in Rockdale, Illinois Saturday afternoon. A warrant had been issued for Burnett's arrest on charges of murder, aggravated robbery and two counts of assault in connection with the shooting death of 31-year-old Adam Fort on Sunday, October 18. Authorities say two men entered Fort's apartment, demanded money, and shot him.

Lonnie Hudson, 23, has also been arrested in connection with the homicide. Hudson was taken into custody in Wausau, Wis. late last week after a brief foot chase. He is facing the same charges as Burnett. Online court records show that he has an extradition hearing Wednesday afternoon.
