LA CROSSE, Wis. (WXOW) The UW-La Crosse volleyball team continued it's surprise season with a straight sets win over 8th-ranked UW-Whitewater Wednesday.
The Eagles won the match by the scores of 25-19, 25-22 and 25-17 ending the Warhawks 16 match winning streak.
UW-L improves to 5-1 in the WIAC and takes over sole possession of first place.
Leah Putzier led the way with 14 kills and Stephanie Henk added 12.
Jaclyn Barrett had 38 assists.
Across town, Viterbo was a straight sets winner over Waldorf.
Sara Biermeier had 22 kills and Emilee Wiersma chipped in 11.
Viterbo improved to 7-0 in the NSAA and 32-4 overall.
