LA CROSSE, Wis. (WXOW) The Viterbo men's basketball team will hold it's home opener Wednesday night when they take on Crossroads College.
The V-Hawks are off to a 1-1 start after splitting a pair of games over the weekend.
This is a young squad.
They have three seniors, but only Pete Drummond saw significant playing time last season.
They are picked to finish 8th in their new conference, the North Star Athletic Association.
But they V-Hawks have higher expectations.
"I would describe us as a relatively inexperienced team despite some guys returning with all those starts. Those freshman and red shirt freshman, there are going to be guys in that group that we're going to have to count on. It comes back to our leaders and our program and everybody buying into it to see how quickly they buy in and can be contributors to our program," said head coach Wayne Wagner.
"We have young guys who do have a lot of experience on the team, and that's great. The last two games they've stepped up tremendously. That's what we need every single night if we want to come out with a win," said senior guard Pete Drummond.
The V-Hawks finished 12-17 last season.
