Playing a ranked opponent is nothing new for the Eagles.
In fact, when the season is over, UW-La Crosse will have played 5 of their 10 games against Div. III top 25 foes.
The toughest of those may be Saturday when they host 3rd-ranked UW-Oshkosh. The Titans already own a win over UW-Whitewater this season.
UW-L is coming off a blowout loss at Stevens Point.
The Eagles let a win get away against Oshkosh last year when they saw a late lead slip away. But at least they enter Saturday's game knowing they can hang with the Titans.
"We've had some growing moments when we've played team like St. Thomas and Texas (Mary-Hardin Baylor). We know they're great teams. Once we get a spark going we know we can compete with these teams like last year," said linebacker Nicholas Peters.
"I think we talk about and say 'yeah, we can play with this group' if we execute and we're tough and we get after it. We're going to have to go out and play a very good football game. I think our kids have confidence in that," said head coach Joel Dettwiler.
The Eagles lost to the Titans 21-18 last year.
Kickoff is set for 2 p.m.
There will be special ceremonies before the game and at halftime in honor of Veterans Day.
