De Soto's King named AD of the Year

De Soto High School's Scott King was named District 3- Athletic Director of the Year by the Wisconsin Athletic Directors Association on Monday.

King has spent the last 23 years teaching, coaching, officiating and serving as an athletic administrator for De Soto.

His career has included stops in Texas, South Dakota and Wisconsin, coaching all levels of basketball and track and winning a South Dakota boys' basketball state title in 1985.

King was recently inducted into the Lyman Hall of Fame and had previously received the Golden Hear Award and the Gatorade "Coaches Care" Honor Roll award.

Previous area athletic directors to receive the award include La Crosse Logan's Steve Hole, La Crosse Central's Joe Beran, La Crosse Aquinas' Ted Knutson, and Onalaska's Ron Johnson.
