Despite their early exit from the WIAC Volleyball Tournament, the Eagles will reap the rewards from a successful regular season.
They'll take on Carthage College Thursday in the NCAA Division III Championships.
UW-La Crosse received one of 20 at-large berths.
They're making their 13th appearance in school history. But it's just their first since 2008.
Not many outside the program thought this was possible. Before the season, the Eagles were predicted to finish last in the WIAC.
"It's an amazing feeling. Coming out and seeing we were picked to finish last again this year in the conference really drove a lot of us to prove everybody wrong and we are a lot better team than what they had us predicted. I think we came out and showed the conference that," said senior Danica Johnson.
"We have excellent senior leadership. They do an excellent job leading this group. They've really created our success and brought us from worst to first. It really is a testament to their hard work," said head coach Lily Hallock.
The Eagles won 20 games for the first time since 2008.
Thursday's match in Grand Rapids, Michigan is set for 2 p.m.
