Bangor punches ticket to State; Arcadia, Mel-Min come up short

The Bangor Cardinals are headed to the WIAA State Football Finals for the first time in school history after a resounding 48-6 win over Burlington Catholic Central Friday night in the division 7 semifinals at DeForest.

Andrew Piske led the way with 299 yards rushing on just 20 carries to go with 4 touchdowns.

Luke Reader and Kellen Kravik also had touchdowns for the undefeated Cardinals.

They will play Pepin/Alma next Thursday at Camp Randall Stadium.

Pepin/Alma beat Coleman 35-7.

Arcadia saw it's dream season end with a 42-21 loss to Amherst in Eau Claire in a division 5 semifinal.

Arcadia led 21-14 at the half before Amherst outscored Arcadia 28-0 in the second half to win it.

It was the Raiders only loss of the season.

They finish 12-1.

In division 6, Melrose-Mindoro jumped out to an early 6-0 lead against Darlington.

But the Redbirds dominated after that and ended Melrose-Mindoro's season by the score of 42-12.
