The high school football season will continue in the La Cross area thanks to one team, Bangor.
The Cardinals are headed to the division 7 state title game thanks to Friday night's overwhelming 48-6 win over Catholic Central.
It's been a long time coming for one of the most successful programs in the area.
Andrew Piske and the offensive line put the whole town on their shoulders.
Piske had 299 yards rushing and 4 touchdowns, leading Bangor to their first ever trip to the state finals.
"Our lineman did a great job. We knew we had to overpower these guys to have success. That showed tonight. It's incredible. First team in Bangor history to make it this far. It just feels amazing," said Piske.
"I'll tell you, this is just tremendous for us. You fight so many years to get there and it finally happens. It's a tremendous feeling," said head coach Rick Muellenberg.
Bangor will play Pepin/Alma in the WIAA Division 7 Championship Thursday at 10 AM at Camp Randall Stadium.
