UW-La Crosse closed out it's sixth straight losing season with a blowout loss at UW-Platteville Saturday, 52-7 was the final.
After a scoreless first quarter the Pioneers scored 24 straight in the second quarter.
It was capped off by a 45-yard hail mary touchdown pass from Tom Kelly to Dan Arnold on the final play of the half.
Platteville extended it's lead to 38-0 before the Eagles managed their only score of the game.
It came in the third quarter when Drew David hit Joel Oxton on a 12-yard touchdown pass.
Platteville rolled-up 568 yards of total offense while holding the Eagles to just 216.
David was 12-22 for 125 yards passing and two interceptions.
Austin Mancosky had 70 yards rushing on 16 carries.
"With only four guys in the box, they figured out a way to run the ball. They schemed things up. They took it to us and there's pretty much nothing you can say about that," said defensive back Ryan Weber.
"We gave up a couple of touchdown passes that we just didn't make our reads correctly. You have to credit their quarterback. He was patient and put the ball where it's supposed to be and we were a step slow. Not the result we wanted in the end. The touchdown at the end of the half was kind of a back-breaker that really can't happen for us," said head coach Joel Dettwiler.
UW-L closed out the season 3-7 overall and 2-5 in the WIAC.
