Pierce County (WQOW) - Prescott Police Department announced Wednesday that they are conducting an active investigation involving a missing resident, after a body was found in Kentucky earlier this week.
ABC-affiliate WTVC reported Wednesday that authorities in Kentucky received a tip that a man who was wanted for questioning, involving a murder in Prescott, was possibly located in Catoosa County. They said deputies located 60-year-old Clarence Michael Hicks in his vehicle at the Travel-L-Park.
WTVC said at the request of the Pierce County Sheriff's Office, Hicks was interviewed by investigators about his possible involvement in the concealment of a murder.
Pierce County authorities said no formal charges have been made.
The body was positively identified Wednesday as Douglas L. Bailey, 51, from Prescott. Bailey was reported missing in Peoria County, Illinois on Nov. 30, 2015.
Catoosa County (WTVC) - UPDATE: New information has been provided about this case from Catoosa County Sheriff Gary Sisk.
Sisk says the Catoosa County 911 Center got a tip that a man who was wanted for questioning involving a murder in Prescott, Wisconsin was possibly located in Catoosa County.
Sisk says at 12:09 PM, deputies located 60-year-old Clarence Michael Hicks of Harrodsburg, Kentucky in his vehicle at the Travel-L-Park on Mack Smith Road.
Sisk says deputies, along with the Fort Oglethorpe Police Department, conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle at Mack Smith Road and Hunt Drive.
At the request of the Pierce County, Wisconsin Sheriff's Office, Hicks was interviewed by Sheriff's Office investigators about his possible involvement in the concealment of a murder.
Hicks' vehicle was processed for evidence by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation and Sheriff's Office investigators.
Sisk says All evidence and information obtained is being turned over to the Wisconsin authorities.
At the request of the Pierce County Sheriff's Office, Mr. Hicks and his vehicle were released.
(WTVC) - On Tuesday, Catoosa County deputies helped an agency out of Wisconsin with an investigation.
Deputies, along with the GBI, have been processing a truck on the side of Mack Smith Road. The truck was spotted and stopped shortly after noon on Tuesday.
Catoosa County Sheriff Gary Sisk says the truck is an investigation in Wisconsin.
Sisk says one person has been detained for questioning.
Police have not yet made any arrests.
According to Fort Oglethorpe Police Chief David Eubanks, Fort Oglethorpe Police, East Ridge Police, and Catoosa County deputies helped in apprehending a suspect wanted in connection to a homicide in Wisconsin.
He's says the truck had Kentucky tags. Onstar technology tracked the truck to an RV park on Mack Smith Road. As the vehicle left the park, the driver was stopped.
PINEVILLE, Ky. (AP) -- Kentucky State Police have found a body that is believed to be connected to a Wisconsin homicide inside a box alongside a Bell County road.
Media outlets report that authorities in Wisconsin and Georgia called state police about the homicide on Tuesday and told them where the body was thought to be. State police went to the location on Industrial Road and found two big boxes over an embankment. The body was found in one of the boxes.
Bell County Coroner Jay Steele says the body is of a man and hasn't been identified. An autopsy is scheduled for Wednesday morning.
State police say they don't have any information about the homicide in Wisconsin.
