La Crosse, WI (WXOW) -

UW-La Crosse used some red-hot shooting from start to finish to lead them to a blowout win over UW-Platteville, 88-57 the final.

Jared Staege and Austin Fritz led the way with 19 points each leading five players in double-figures for the Eagles.

A 17-3 run in the first half by the Eagles opened up a comfortable margin.

UW-L shot 62% in the first half while building a 47-22 lead at the break.

The Eagles ended up shooting 57% for the game, connecting on 11 of 22 three-point shots.

The 31-point win was the largest margin of victory for the Eagles over Platteville since 2002.

"We just wanted to keep the momentum going from California. To come back here, we had a week off, coaches made it clear we wanted to make a statement in the conference right away.  So we brought the intensity out here for 40 minutes and it was a great team effort.  This was a really good team effort for us tonight," Staege said.

UW-L is now 7-6 on the season and 1-0 in the WIAC.
