If the Eagles wanted to send a message to the rest of the WIAC, they did.
And it's message received.
UW-L put a pounding on Platteville Wednesday night in the conference opener thanks, in most part, to a shooting clinic. The Eagles made 62 percent of their shots in the first half and 57 percent for the game.
The result was a resounding 31-point win and about as good a start as you could hope for to the conference season.
"Every game is important. It's a long season. With conference play you want to get off on the right foot, especially at home. I thought our guys did a great job with that and really set a tone early on and strung it together. We've played well in stretches, but tonight I think we played solid from start to finish," said head coach Ken Koelbl.
UW-L will host UW-Eau Claire Saturday at 5 PM.
The Blugolds are coming off an upset win over UW-Stevens Point Wednesday night.
