The world's top up-and-coming skiers will once again gather in Westby for the annual Snowflake Ski Jump competition.
Organizers expect between 20-25 skiers from the United States, Norway, Slovania, and Finland to participate in this weekend's action. Opening ceremonies are at 7 p.m. Friday, and the races wrap up Saturday evening.
Regardless of where the competitors come from, they all agree the action, and atmosphere in Timber Coulee are unique.
"Most importantly it's just a great ski jump, we all love it, and the people, the atmosphere here is just so great and loving," said Trevor Edlund, a former U20 division winner. "Everyone enjoys having us here and it makes for a really good time."
Edlund will be competing in the US Cup division this weekend, one of three divisions. The other two are U20 and Senior/Masters.
Event promoter Scott Yttri said the event is as close as you can come in our area to Olympic competition, but the neat part is the tie to service.
"We're keeping more younger kids coming, helping us doing work down here, moving equipment., we've got younger operators," Yttri said. "It's fun to see to see different people stepping up and helping us down here, it's great."
