La Crosse Fairgrounds Speedway Drivers want to start their season off on the right note, but so do the staff members that prepare the 5/8 mile oval in West Salem.
Holding the annual Budweiser Frostbuster event on Sunday would go a long way in setting the tone for another successful racing season.
Rain canceled the event in 2014, but pleasant weather in 2015 helped approximately 1,800 fans attend the season-opener.
"Last year we had a very nice Frostbuster and it kind of set the stage for the season, we didn't have a single rainout and we had beautiful weather right through Oktoberfest," said Dave Noelke, the track's director of marketing and promotions. "It definitely gives us some momentum."
Racing begins at 2 p.m. Sunday. The first week of Saturday night racing is May 14.
