The Memorial Day weekend is generally the weekend UW-La Crosse men's track builds it's legacy.
The Eagles are sending another large contingent to the NCAA Div. III National Outdoor Meet.
UW-L is the defending national champs capturing their 13th outdoor title last year.
They're sending 13 individuals and two relays to this year's meet.
They certainly have momentum having won their 26th straight conference title a couple of weeks ago.
Needless to say, they've set the bar high.
"Our expectations don't change from year-to-year. Our goal is to go out and win a national title. So these guys are set up and ready to go. They've been preparing all year long since this time last year when they finished up with the national title. We get a couple of weeks to decompress and then we go right back at it," said head coach Josh Buchholtz.
"We have three hurdlers going to nationals. Our 4 by 4 is ranked second. Our sprint crew is doing fantastic. We're right up there with all the really good teams. We just have to go there and if we perform like we're supposed to we should come away with a win," said Zak Wallenfang, a member of the 4 by 400 meter relay team.
The Div. III National Meet starts Thursday in Waverly, Iowa.
