The man accused of murdering his girlfriend in Lewiston less than two weeks ago made an appearance in court Thursday asking for a reduction in bail.
A lawyer defending 23-year-old Kyle Allers requested that judge Jeff Johnson lower his $1 million bail to $100,000.
The attorney cited Allers' need for dental surgery and to figure out his custody situation for his children.
But Winona County Attorney Karin Sonneman disagreed, saying Allers' wishes were purely selfish, and that both of those things can be arranged while in custody.
Family of both Allers and the victim, 24-year-old Tasha Hanson, crowded the courtroom.
Judge Jeff Johnson ruled that Allers' bail will remain at $1 million dollars.
Allers is charged with 2nd Degree Murder in the brutal beating of Hanson – the mother of their two children – and then asking for help to hide her body in the woods of rural Lewiston.
Allers will be back in court July 13.
