As players trickled into Copeland Park Sunday evening, there was a mix of first-time introductions and renewed friendships.
The La Crosse Loggers held its first practice of the season, two days ahead of opening night in the Northwoods League.
New manager Brian Lewis directed 13 players through a light workout. The team will travel to Kenosha on Tuesday to play the first of 72 games this summer.
The Loggers move from the NWL South Division to the North Division this year, joining teams like the Rochester Honkers and Eau Claire Express. The addition of a team in Rockford, Illinois prompted the league to move La Crosse to the North Division.
Lewis replaced Bill Sandillo as manager earlier this spring. He is in his fourth season with the team, and also serves as an assistant coach for Viterbo University.
Third base coach Ted Falkner, first base coach Jacob Jarreau and pitching coach Tom Kinney round out the coaching staff.
