A Preston man is in custody after leading police on a pursuit in a stolen vehicle before ramming into a squad car.
Fillmore County Sheriff's Office said a man reported a threat to the office around 10:40 Wednesday night.
Preston PD made arrangements for the suspect of that theft to return the property to the sheriff's office.
But later that night, two other individuals arrived at the sheriff's office, saying they were helping 19-year-old Dylan Bathke return the stolen property, when Bathke threatened them with a gun and jumped out of their vehicle.
Law enforcement officers searched the area until Bathke was spotted outside of the original theft spot, around half past midnight.
Officers set up a perimeter, and Bathke tried to flee in a stolen pickup truck.
He made it to U.S. Highway 52 then continued to County Road 16 only to ram into a police squad car during the pursuit.
Bathke was taken into custody and is being held on 2nd degree assault, assault of a police officer, theft of a motor vehicle, fleeing a police officer in a motor vehicle, reckless driving, and suspected DUI.
